Note: I've already watched Look Before you Sleep over more than seven times now. Not that I dislike the episode (I still love it though) but this slight analyzation of Rarity in that episode is a bit dated (old, outdated, etc).
I've just re-watched Look Before You Sleep and not much of my opinions changed that significantly. However I feel that on other certain cartoons, the rich character vs the "country" character are always into fights and most of them are rather immature and in the end it's either the rich character getting his/her the taste of rival's revenge in a very spiteful way or that the country character are now friends with the rich character but later on they become sworn enemies. But in FiM here, this doesn't happen. Instead, Rarity and Applejack weren't necessarily or seriously down on each others' throats. They were actually trying to get along with each other but with differences with the personas they have, it tend to wear on each others' nerves (Fashion personas tend to wear on a lot of people. Sometimes, it's the country cowgirl/cowboy personas that wear on a lot of people as well) . Eventually though, they get along very well in the end without any problems. Nevertheless, I still enjoyed this episode and not to mention Rarity and Twilight Sparkle looks so pretty with their curling hair and Applejack is such a silly pony.....I love her. <3

What are your thoughts on Look Before You Sleep, Rarity, or other ponies from the mane six that they appeared on that episode?

I personally think that Look Before You Sleep is one of those underrated episodes that I enjoy so much. I know that most people were pretty damn annoyed by Rarity from this episode. However in comparison of some other cartoons involving a rivalry between the "country" girl and the "fashion" girl, If Rarity were to be written "stereotypically" and "one-dimensional", Rarity would have consistently insulted Applejack and her "country". Rarity would have had intentions to ruin Applejack's reputation. Rarity would have been doing all of this almost in every chances she gets. Rarity would have bullied Applejack from the start. Rarity would have all intentions of this due to her jealousy of Applejack or because Rarity or her family all together had a rough time with the Apple family. But.....all of those things I've mentioned if Rarity were "stereotypical" and "one-dimensional" never happened. Instead, there were a couple of moments that Rarity and Applejack were annoyed with each other due to different personas but they eventually tolerated each other by the end of the episode and sadly this episode may have caused a lot of people to hate Rarity, sometimes Applejack, Twilight Sparkle or all together. That's kinda sad considering that Rarity and Applejack have a stronger friendship bond since Look Before You Sleep. Plus Rarity admitted her mistakes and so did Applejack.
This one-sided reason/argument card again....-_-;
Cut me some slack here.
"Rarity doesn't have a sigle stereotypical hair. And in this episode, she and Applejack were trying to get along because they wanted Twilight to be happy. That's a kind and generous move of both of them. Granted, Rarity had some annoying moments here. When everybody was cleaning, she was styling the branches, and that was stupid of her. But Applejack was thoughtlessly dirtying Twilight's house up, and that's very rude. Rarity pointing that out before the mess was greater was the right thing to do. But in either case, they have their personal flaws and they were showing. Do people who hate Rarity for it have friends with zero flaws? Or do they hate everybody who says or does something stupid and hence have no friends?
I think it's also a great thing and "metalesson" that the ponies were arguing about the problem at habd and nothing else. Many people, in that situation, start bringing up all sorts of stuff about the other person and arguments get out of hand.
It's true that the "country" people can get as annoying as the "city" people. I'm not comfortable around people who are very loud and always make rude jokes. I'm not much of a fashionate person, but I mind manners, and if people all around me burp during meals, I'll be annoyed. That's not to say I hate. I don't see how being a little over-the-top about neatness is an unforgivable sin." - Nanahuatli
"Rarity may have been slightly annoying but Applejack was the exact same, both made stupid choices. That was the whole point of the episode, wasn't it? That somepony may have one flaw, but you have one too? That not everyone is perfect? I share Rarity's passion for style and fashion but I never rub in what I have, in fact I often to to be like Rarity and offer my assistance in any way I can. Applejack is a hardworking pony too, both owning (Atleast in part) their own buisness/farm. She liked getting -Too- dirty, and didn't think before she acted, Rarity being a perfectionist thought about every detail, hence the giant tree sitting in Twilights living room. I think they all have their flaws, and I really enjoyed that episode that showcased that. It made them feel more real. Plus, I do recalls Rarity's parents being a bit 'country' themselves when they made their appearence, so it wasn't that I think she had a problem with. It was just their persona's." - SilentHillPrincess
